2. Bundesliga: KSC expects high fines after using pyrotechnics

Status: 11/14/2022 12:43 p.m

After the massive use of pyrotechnics at Karlsruher SC’s home game, the club is looking to talk to those involved. According to the club, several people were injured in the incident.

Shortly before the game against FC St. Pauli kicked off in the wildlife park, KSC fans in the south stand set off pyrotechnics. Dense clouds of smoke drifted through the stadium. Due to the foggy November weather, the blue and white swaths were only able to pull away very slowly. The game could only be kicked off 15 minutes later.

KSC seeks dialogue with everyone involved

While the game was still going on on Saturday, the club announced that they wanted to intensively investigate the incident.

More information is currently being collected from everyone involved: fans, city, police and rescue services, Becker told SWR. Intensive talks are to take place towards the middle of the week. Among other things, it should deal with the question of how Banner and Pyro were able to get into the stadium at all.

The club faces a hefty fine

Financially, too, the KSC is threatened with an aftermath. The club fears a high penalty, which in similar cases was recently a six-figure amount. A penalty order from the DFB is not yet available, said Becker.
