On Sunday (March 12th, 2023) Hansa Rostock ended their negative series in the 2nd Bundesliga with a 1-1 (1-0) win at Hannover 96 and for the first time in three games scored a point and scored a goal. After the draw, Hannover is still waiting for its first win in the second half of the season.
Dennis Dressel shocked Hannover 96 with a dream goal just before the break (44th minute). “That was a Sunday shot on Sunday”said the scorer. Max Visitkow equalized for the home side after 61 minutes.
Hannover is tenth in the table with 31 points. Rostock is in 14th place and has 25 points, three points ahead of the relegation rank.
Dressel by volley for Hansa
The hosts were unlucky right from the start: the VAR and then referee Daniel Siebert saw Sebastian Ernst foul against Rostock’s defender Nico Neidhart when they saw the supposed opening goal (8th).
Hannover was initially superior in the varied game, but temporarily lost the thread from the middle of the first half. Rostock, which had previously only scored one goal this year, became more and more dangerous. Dressel took the lead with a nice volley after stopping the ball with his chest.
Zieler saves 96 the point
However, Dressel was also involved in the second half: he involuntarily gave Besuschkow the equalizer after a corner. Louis Schaub then missed the lead for Hanover against Rostock goalkeeper Markus Kolke (63rd).
After that, the guests pushed harder for victory and had good opportunities: John Verhoek (69th) and Ryan Malone (80th) failed, however, due to the fast-reacting Ron-Robert Zieler in the Hanover goal. In the end it was a draw that didn’t really help either team.
Hanover as a guest in Braunschweig
On the next matchday, Hannover 96 is challenged away from promoted team Braunschweig (Sunday, March 19, 2023 at 1:30 p.m.). Rostock hosts Fortuna Düsseldorf at the same time.
