2. Bundesliga: 1. FC Nuremberg dismisses coach Robert Klauss

Only 3 wins of the season

1. FC Nürnberg has parted ways with coach Robert Klauss. After the last two defeats and 0:5 goals as well as the disappointing record of only three wins from the first 12 games, the “club” pulled the ripcord on Monday and announced the dismissal of the 37-year-old. Klauß took over as head coach at Nuremberg in the summer of 2020 and since then has averaged 1.35 points in 82 games.

Dieter Hecking, FCN sport director and sports director Olaf Rebbe informed the previous coach of the decision that he would say goodbye to the team on Monday, according to a statement from the second division club. “We regret this decision, but it was unavoidable. Robert has done a good job here for more than two seasons. However, the development in the past few weeks has not been satisfactory at all. The way the team played in Karlsruhe and in a few games before that was unacceptable. We would all have been happy if we could have continued on our path of continuity combined with successful games,” said Hecking.

In the table, Nuremberg, which many considered to be one of the favorites for promotion in the run-up to the season, slipped down to 14th place after losing 3-0 at KSC. FCN announced that the two assistant coaches, Ersan Parlatan and Frank Steinmetz, will look after the team until further notice.
