An 18-year-old Amsterdam resident was arrested by the police at the end of the afternoon for an armed robbery of a takeaway restaurant in Amstelveen. The young man was arrested in South after he robbed a woman of her scooter during his escape attempt.
Around 4:30 p.m., the young man walked into the takeaway restaurant on Rembrandtweg with a firearm. In the case he threatened the people present with the weapon and demanded money. He then fled on foot with an amount of money. A street away, he robbed the woman of her scooter and fled towards the city.
The license plate of the scooter was entered by the police into the system that can recognize license plates and thus the robber could be traced. The young man was spotted on the scooter at the IJsbaanpad, near the Olympic Stadium. He was held at gunpoint by police officers and arrested. A firearm was found during his arrest.
