The According to Ruhr news the banger music rapper 18 Karat was arrested and is now in custody.
The starting point was a raid on Tuesday morning (June 20) in which police investigators searched twenty apartments, houses and business premises in Dortmund on suspicion of drug trafficking. The officers found eleven kilos of marijuana, almost 19,000 euros in cash, small amounts of ecstasy and some blank vaccination cards. And something else the police discovered during the raid: two professional marijuana plantations.
The search warrants were based on messages exchanged via the Encrochat messenger. The messenger, also known as “WhatsApp for criminals”, was cracked by French investigators in 2020. Since then, investigators across Europe have been able to access the data – so that hundreds of arrest warrants have already been issued based on “Encrochat” messages.
18 Karat part of organized crime?
Now it has apparently also caught 18 carats. What exactly he is accused of is not yet known. In addition to the gold mask rapper, two other people were arrested during the raid, one of whom is now free.
For the police, the raid was a complete success. The police chief of Dortmund, Gregor Lange, comments on the searches as follows: “Today, through persistent and meticulous investigative work, we were able to uncover several groups of organized criminals in Dortmund and deal them a serious blow”.
So all pretty serious. If 18 Karat can’t get his way out of this mess with the help of his lawyers, he will probably have to pause his rap career for the time being. His current album UNCUT was released on January 7th this year.
