17-year-old crashes into tree after getting behind the wheel alone

A 17-year-old boy crashed into a tree with a car in Gemert on Sunday. This happened at Boekent after he decided to get behind the wheel of the car without a supervisor. According to police, the boy was driving too fast, after which he lost control of the car and ended up in a skid. He eventually came to a stop on the side of the road against a tree.

Officers were driving through the Boekent when they saw the boy coming from the opposite direction. They immediately saw that the driver was speeding. Then things went wrong in the bend.

The young driver was not injured in the accident. He was fined and lost his driver’s license. So he did have a driver’s license, but because of his age he was only allowed to get behind the wheel with an attendant next to him. In this case, the boy had decided to leave alone in the car.

“The damage to the vehicle and the tree will probably not be covered by insurance,” police said of the accident. “So you can see that such a decision to go away alone in the car can have very serious consequences.”

The Central Bureau of Driving Licenses will now examine the boy’s driver’s license. The organization will investigate his fitness to drive.
