The new season can come. 15,932 fans (including around 750 from Ireland) see a 2-1 (1-0) win against Bohemian FC from Dublin at the An der Alten Försterei stadium at the official season opener. The Union goals are scored by new signing Danilho Doekhi (5th) and Andreas Voglsammer (68th).

Coach Urs Fischer changes again in the fourth test game of the preparation. New goalscorers Doekhi and Jamie Leweling are on the pitch in the first half. After the break, Fischer made six changes, including newcomers Tim Skarke and Jordan Siebatcheu, the second assignment for the six-million striker from Bern.

The Franco-American misses a giant as Dublin keeper Daniel Jinadu fires in a cross; Siebatcheu is surprised and the ball goes over the goal (55′). Shortly thereafter, his header (after a Gießelmann cross) misses (65th). This can be done better!

With one of the few chances, the Irish championship sixth is still able to catch up (74th / Coote). In the end there is still a deserved 2:1 for the Köpenicker. The Union fans are having fun, celebrating the team after the game.

It gets loud long before kick-off. Around 45 minutes before the start of the game, the new team is introduced. Each professional is called individually and runs in the direction of the center circle. “Older” players like Julian Ryerson, who captained the team in the first half of the game, and the third goalkeeper, Jakob Busk, get the biggest round of applause. or Sheraldo Becker, who extended his contract early during the preparations. Coach Urs Fischer and manager Oliver Ruhnert also get their applause.

By the way: Kevin Möhwald is absent from the team presentation – officially as ill. Has the midfielder been infected with Corona? The club declined to comment on this when asked. According to reports, the ex-Bremer is in protective isolation due to a corona case in the area.
