15,000 spectators for renewed Ruislé Peirde course

Ruislé Peirdekoers is a elimination race over a short distance in which two horses trot side by side for 280 meters in a straight line. Besides De Haan on the beach, Ruiselede is currently the only official short track trot race in the field in our province. The organization and owners provided extra cooling for the horses, which had to complete their course in these weather conditions.

It is oppressively hot, but the course is completely in the shade and it is regularly sprayed wet between the short races. The horses are in any case extra well cared for in this weather. A total of 1500 spectators came to the competition, 16 horses were at the start and a live streaming was provided. The tradition of Ruislé Peirdekoers has been saved for the time being.
