The most spectacular figure skater of the Beijing Olympics, Russia Kamila Valijevawill return to racing in Sarinsk, Russia next weekend.

Valijeva, 15, will take part in the Channel One Cup, where only Russian skaters will be seen.

The Russian Figure Skating Competition will be held at the same time as the World Figure Skating Championships in Montpellier, France.

The International Figure Skating Federation has denied Russian and Belarusian athletes the right to compete in competitions under it. The reason is Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Tough names

Known as a very high-level figure skating country, Russia has got almost all of its tops to compete in Sarinsk.

Couple skating for Olympic silver in Beijing skating Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov will be seen on the ice of Sarinski over the weekend. As well as a great couple of ice dances Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov.

Beijing Olympics fourth Valijeva and Olympic gold there grabbed Anna Sherbakova will also be skating in the Channel One Cup.

One hard name is missing from the list of participants, namely Aleksandra Trusovawho finished silver in Beijing.
