The German cup winners FC Bayern Munich have continued their successful streak in the basketball Bundesliga. There was a hard-fought victory against BG Göttingen on Wednesday evening (February 28, 2028).
Ten days after winning the BBL Cup, the Munich team won the catch-up game on matchday 12 with 86:74 (46:38). It was the league leaders’ 13th league success in a row. The top scorer in front of 4,500 spectators was Umoja Gibson from Göttingen with 15 points, while Devin Booker (12) scored best for Bayern.
After two missed three-point attempts by Bayern, the guests took the lead 14-9 thanks to a layup from Osaro Jürgen Rich. Substitute national player and world champion Andreas Obst brought stability to the favorites’ formation, so the Munich team ended the first quarter with an eight-point lead (29:21).
Göttingen stays tuned until the end
But French coach Olivier Foucart’s team kept the encounter exciting until the end. A three-pointer from Zachary Ensminger brought Lower Saxony within two points (68:66), but Bayern kept their nerve.
On Friday, the Munich team will meet the Serbian cup winners Red Star Belgrade in the Euroleague, and on Sunday they will face the seventh-placed Telekom Baskets Bonn in the BBL.
