13 percent of Belgian children suffer from material child poverty

A new study on deprivation in children (read: essential things that are denied to them) shows that almost 13 percent in our country suffer from material deprivation. This is the case when children daily miss at least three of the seventeen things that the EU considers essential for healthy and balanced development, including healthy food, a healthy living environment, a household without debt and access to leisure activities. With that figure, Belgium scores poorly in the European rankings.
