After local police received an emergency call from a woman who reported that she had “run her car over her 13-month-old baby,” they drove to the woman’s home in the US town of Cottonwood.
The car was parked in a gravel area near the house and the woman tried to maneuver the car out of a tight space. The woman was convinced that she had put her daughter in her car seat at a safe distance.
“When she repositioned the vehicle, the front tire hit the car seat, causing it to fall backwards, seriously injuring the child,” the local police said.
The child was taken to hospital, but later died of her injuries. It is still unclear whether the woman will be further prosecuted in connection with the death of her daughter.
