vYear-end holidays on the road? Probably only for a few… This is at least what emerges from the new research that Verisure, a multinational leader in alarm systems, conducted on a sample of over 1,000 Italians. Therefore, it is predicted a New Year’s Eve at home for many, but that doesn’t mean it has to be boring or sad.
The reasons are not only linked to the climate of economic uncertainty or to a persistent fear due to the post-pandemic. 84% of the sample interviewed are convinced that it has occurred in the last two years a decline in security in Italy and precisely the period of the Christmas holidays and the end of the year is the one considered more dangerous is for thefts in the house – claimed by 35% of those interviewed – both for shoplifting and theft in shops (46%).
Here because 39% of those who have decided to leave anyway will increase their security measures, while 36% have already done so in the past. In fact, 19% have already installed an alarm in the first house, 18.7% in second homes and 25% in their own businesses. In addition to the alarm, the most commonly adopted security measure for primary homes is the armored door (31.7%)while as far as shops are concerned, alarms (25%) and video cameras (19%) are the masters.
Home holidays: savings, security and friends
Will these fears prevent you from fully enjoying the end-of-year holidays? It seems that 61% of the sample interviewed by Verisure decided not to leave home this winter or to do it anyway for a few days.
However, this does not mean not to take advantage of it share moments of leisure and joy with friends and relatives, rather. Precisely this need, on the one hand to save money and on the other not to leave one’s home ‘unattended’, will increase end-of-year house parties in the name of more intimate sharing, fun among a select few, conviviality and a warm toast.
After all, if you stay in the city, the alternative may often not be attractive: many places that, for New Year’s Eve, offer vigils at exorbitant prices and which do not reflect the quality of the service offered.
So why not get organized for a house party where everyone prepares something, the entertainment is chosen on the basis of the tastes of the participants and there isn’t the constraint of having to travel many kilometers perhaps running into traffic, fog and unexpected snowstorms?
The pleasure of little things, even on New Year’s Eve
On New Year’s Eve the important thing is to spend a pleasant evening, without too many pretensions, surround yourself with people with whom you can spend quality time and toast the new arrivals. After all, the gratification of the senses does not require too many magnitudes.
Over 90% of Italians agree in recognizing that pleasure is found in simple things. This is revealed by a research conducted by Human Highway for envy apple™who wanted to investigate how our compatriots approach sensory experiences in their daily lives.
82% of the sample explicitly acknowledges that, after the two years we have gone through, now it’s easier to find pleasant things in everyday life. In fact, only one Italian out of two believes that something, to be pleasant, must be excessively refined or out of the ordinary.
To make Italians feel pleasure are the outdoor experiences but also, more concretely, food and clothing. In particular, more than 85% answered that they also derive satisfaction from try foods with new and particular tastes (more relevant for young people under 34), or from wearing soft and enveloping clothes o something beautiful that makes you feel special (especially important for women).
What better occasion than a warm end-of-year party, wearing the outfit that makes us feel more at ease – without dress code imposed by situations or etiquette – and enjoying good home-made food in the company – or made to arrive ready-made so as not to spend the afternoon at the stove – waiting for the midnight toast?
