The problem with the broken weir on the Maas near Grave was still not solved late last night. Parts of the weir were damaged during maintenance work yesterday morning. A so-called baffle plate is now stuck, so that the weir can no longer hold back the Maas water and it flows away into the river. Because safe working is paramount, work on the weir was halted last night until this morning.
Due to the situation at the weir in Grave, shipping traffic on the Maas between Sluis Sambeek and Sluis Grave has been blocked. There is also limited artillery on the Maas-Waal Canal, at lock Weurt. Lock Heumen will remain closed for the time being.
