A fire broke out late on Monday evening at Café Govers on Kerkstraat in Geffen. According to initial reports, this was preceded by an explosion on the terrace near the entrance door to the banquet hall around eleven o’clock in the evening. Officers who happened to be in the area managed to extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher, which prevented worse. There would not have been a fire in the café. The police are investigating how the fire could have started and an object was secured.
