Two men were arrested in Putte last night on suspicion of breaking into a house in the border village. The suspects are a 31-year-old man from Tilburg and a 56-year-old man from Romania. Shortly before one o’clock at night, the police received a report of a burglary in a house on Putseweg.
When officers took stock, they saw a man flee back into the house. Moments later, when several officers were present, the house was searched and the police encountered two men who were not supposed to be in the house. The duo was arrested and taken to the station.
Items in the house, including the meter cupboard, appeared to have been destroyed. This created a dangerous situation and Enexis had to intervene to shut off the power. As a result, several houses were briefly without power. The two suspects spent the night in jail and are being interrogated today, the police said.
