A motorist caused havoc on the Kanaaldijk Noord-West in Helmond just after midnight. At lock 7, at a crossing for pedestrians and cyclists, she completely demolished a fence, a traffic sign and a lamppost on a traffic island. The car then came to a stop on its side, a few meters from the canal. The woman was able to get out of her car herself. She was initially welcomed by other road users and local residents. She was then taken to the hospital in Helmond for examination.
