Traffic on the A4 highway that was on its way from Rotterdam to Bergen op Zoom has had an extra long evening peak. Due to an accident at the exit Bergen op Zoom-Zuid, a traffic jam of 4 kilometers arose around half past six, at which point the delay had increased to an hour. At that time, only one lane was available between Steenbergen and Bergen op Zoom-Zuid.
Rijkswaterstaat expected that cleaning work would last until at least a quarter past seven. Only then could the entire road be cleared. The job took a little longer, but by eight o’clock the blockage was over and the traffic jam was cleared in no time. At least three cars were involved in the accident. One of the vehicles flipped over.
