A soldier was taken to hospital on Wednesday night after an accident in the De Stok swimming pool in Roosendaal. Several ambulances and a trauma helicopter were called in for help. The Defense Medical Service was also there. The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance. What exactly happened is unknown.
Because a soldier is involved in the accident, the investigation is led by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee. “We are investigating whether it was an unfortunate accident or not,” a spokesperson said. He confirms that there was a military exercise that evening.
In 2018, a soldier was injured in an accident in the swimming pool De Stok. A corporal became unwell during an exercise in the pool. He died two days later from the complications of the accident. It is not known whether the same exercise took place on Wednesday night.
