A garden house went up in flames on Sint Lambertusstraat in Engelen. The fire broke out around four o’clock in the morning. The garden house was at the back of the garden of a house surrounded by all kinds of other sheds. While the fire brigade quickly extinguished the fire, officers woke the residents of the adjacent houses.
Nothing remained of the garden house. The owner said his dogs woke him up. He suspects that the fire was caused by a candle he had lit in the garden house. He wanted to provide some warmth for his plants, which he had brought inside before frost.
