The police have turned out en masse to the prison (PI) in Vught. Earlier in the afternoon, ambulances already drove there and a trauma helicopter landed. The ambulances then left again, without a patient. The trauma helicopter also returned to the airbase. The agents on the spot, some of whom wear special vests, do not want to say what is going on, but speak of ‘protocol’. A police spokesman said it was an emergency.
Later in the day, a spokesman for the prison said that it was a ‘deceased prisoner by suicide’. Due to the arrival of emergency services, various doors and locks will open and extra agents will be called in as a precaution, explains Omroep Brabant crime reporter Willem-Jan Joachims.
