112 news: delivery van on fire • mayor addresses young AED thieves

In the night of Saturday 21 to Sunday 22 May, two boys in Sint-Michielsgestel removed an AED from the wall and took it with them. The police reported this on Facebook. The device hung on the facade of a company on Duifhuisstraat. The boys took off on their bicycles with the AED. An AED is a device that can restore the heart rhythm in the event of a cardiac arrest.

Mayor Han Looijen of Sint-Michielsgestel now calls on the boys to place the device at the entrance of the town hall. He then ensures that the AED is checked and put back where it belongs. “Imagine that someone near the Duifhuisstraat has a cardiac arrest today or tomorrow. Then there is no AED to save his or her life. Do you really want that on your conscience?”, the mayor asks the boys.
