A car ended up on the track in Boxtel around half past ten last night and got stuck there. This happened at the railway crossing D’ekker between Tongeren and the Kapelweg. A train, which ran from Oisterwijk to Boxtel, ran at an adjusted speed due to work on the track. This probably prevented a collision on the track, a 112 correspondent said. The train came to a stop in time.
The driver of the car, an elderly woman, was said to have turned to the right too early, according to officers on the spot, causing her to land on the rails. She would have followed the command from her navigation system ‘turn right now’ a little too quickly. The police were soon called in and ProRail’s incident response team was also called upon. The driver was not injured, but was shocked by the incident. The damage to her car appeared to be minor, according to a 112 correspondent. A recovery company had to be involved to get the car off the track.
