A resident of Uden was arrested last Wednesday on suspicion of fraud with stamps for a meter cupboard. The network operator had received a report that someone was offering the stamps used for fraud for sale. The seals are the property of the network operator and are used to seal meter boxes. According to the police, the network administrator is also the only one who issues and is allowed to place the stamps.
“Within the criminal circuit, these seals are highly sought after and are worth a lot of money. If criminals convert an electricity meter in order to obtain electricity illegally, for example at cannabis farms, you have to break the seal of the network operator. Criminals are therefore looking for new stamps in order to manipulate the meter box.”
There were many seals, sealing tongs and other tools for placing the seals in the suspect’s home. These have been confiscated. 1200 euros in cash was also found on the suspect. Everything has been confiscated. The suspect has since been interrogated and released. The investigation is still in progress.
