A chimney fire raged at a house on Roderweg in Liempde last night. The fire brigade used a ramoneur to extinguish the chimney fire. A ramoneur consists of a number of pieces of steel chain about fifty centimeters long, with pieces of angle iron at the end of the chains. By lowering the ramoneur into the chimney flue and then raising it with a jerk, the soot and coal residues that were on fire were removed from the chimney wall. These were then extinguished.
