1,100 students return to classes after false alarm gas detection system

The emergency services and utility company Fluvius immediately arrived on site and determined that it was a false alarm due to a power failure. The site was reopened around 11 a.m. and all students were able to return to their classes.

Mayor Dirk De fauw: “Fluvius experts determined that the alarm signal may have been the result of a power failure. After extensive research and analysis, the site was re-released at around 11 a.m. and students were able to return to classes.”
