Sven Michel saved another important point in the fight for the European Cup places against relegated SpVgg Greuther Fürth with his goal. But the iron disappointed against strong guests.

Unfortunately, that’s a bit little, Union!
Against the last Fürth it is only enough for a 1:1. The Iron lose two important points in the fight for the Champions League. Surprising: The Franconians are one of the strongest teams to appear in Köpenick this season.
Joker Sven Michel saves at least one point. The winter newcomer from Paderborn benefits from a mega blunder by Fürth. Viergever wasted the ball in his own penalty area while building up the game, Michel was able to put the ball into the empty goal – 1:1 (72′).
Rani Khedira: “The disappointment is great. We didn’t deserve it today. It’s even a point won. It was too little of everything. Too sloppy, too slow, too unclean, it was a lousy first half.”
The spectators are amazed at the beginning: It is not the iron masters who are in control, but the relegated team. Lucky that Hrgota’s shot just missed the right post (20′).
Then the ailing Dominique Heintz limped with ankle problems in the down (24th). Because coach Urs Fischer no longer has a real defender on the bench, defensive all-rounder Julian Ryerson goes to the left. His 40th substitution in the 100th Bundesliga game of Köpenicker! Union looks confused and at a loss for a long time. Almost logically the 0:1: Knoche clears a Willems free kick with his head to Hrgota, who is left alone by Grischa Prömel. The captain flicks the ball from half-left into the far corner from ten meters out (33′).
After 70 minutes, the Leipzig goal heroes Sven Michel and Kevin Behrens come. And Michel is there immediately! He saves Union a point. Whether that’s enough for Europe remains to be seen.
