A 28-year-old man will be held in custody for the next two weeks on suspicion of human smuggling. He was tasered in the middle of the night on Tuesday and arrested on the Beatrixkade in Eindhoven, after an alert security guard called the police. In a container, officers found eleven foreigners, including five minors. The suspect has no permanent place of residence.
The security guard had seen on camera images that a car stopped at a container that was there.
The container came from France and was on its way to Great Britain. Ten of the refugees are from Vietnam and one from Iraq.
The Public Prosecution Service expects that more arrests may follow. The police have transferred the investigation to the Royal Military Police, which is investigating human smuggling.
