1:1 at Viktoria Cologne – SV Meppen stays in the league , Football | 3rd League – NDR – Regional

The Emsländer can no longer from table 16. Viktoria Berlin, who only has two games left to play. Lars Bünning was man of the game on Monday evening. However, partly involuntarily. Because after the central defender had given Lower Saxony an early lead (11′), he equalized after half-time with an own goal (49′).

Cologne storms, Meppen meets

Meppen’s keeper Matthis Harsmann was at the center of the action several times in the first half of the stadium in the Höhenberg sports park. The representative of the injured Erik Domaschke prevented a goal against stormy hosts several times with great saves. And if the 22-year-old didn’t stand in the way of a Cologne goal, the Rhinelanders did it themselves, in which they finished too hastily. The Emslanders meanwhile used their first notable chance to make it 1-0: Bünning steered the ball into the net with a side kick after an unsuccessful shot by Markus Ballmert (11′).

Bünning brings Viktoria back into play with an own goal

It was not to be the 24-year-old’s only goal that evening – much to his chagrin, however. Because after the change of sides, the native of Hamburg hit his own goal with a completely unfortunate header return (49th). The central defender wanted to make up for this faux pas. And he almost succeeded: in the 59th minute, Viktoria keeper Moritz Nicolas was just able to defuse Bünning’s header after a corner kick. Morgan Faßbender and René Guder had already failed within a few seconds at the goalkeeper (58th).

So while the goalkeepers of both teams were in top form, this was only partially the case for the offensive players. There were no further big chances until the final whistle. A circumstance with which the guests could live well, as they achieved their goal of staying up in the league by winning the point. Cologne, however, must continue to tremble.
