The Haie had to do without Moritz Müller in Ingolstadt and the next game, who was suspended for two games after a cross-check to the head.

Matsumoto and Aubry spin the game

The game started out wild and hard fought. After three penalties within the first three minutes, things got exciting from a sporting point of view with good chances for both sides. They had a little more of the game in the first third, but failed again and again at Haie goalie Mirko Pantkowski.

Five minutes into the second half of the game, the home side broke the ice with Tye McGinn making it 1-0 (25′). Six minutes later, Jon Matsumoto scored the equalizer for Cologne (31st). 45 seconds after the 1:1, the Haie had turned the game: Outnumbered, Louis-Marc Aubry scored to make it 2:1 for the guests (32nd).

Double pack by Thuresson to decide

In the final third, the Haie twice put themselves under pressure with penalties for Aubry (41st) and Jan Luca Sennhenn (44th), but survived the manpower situation without conceding a goal. In Ingolstadt’s third power play (penalty against Matsumoto), Daniel Pietta hit the post of the Cologne goal (54th). Instead, the Haie used their own power play to make it 3-1 through Andreas Thuresson (56 ‘).

Bayern were once again all in front, failed twice at Pantkowski in the 58th minute and then conceded the 1:4. Thuresson’s goal marked the end of the game (59′).
