109:80! Alba tops the standings after beating Gießen

The success against the Giessen 46ers was the tenth win in a row. The best Berlin throwers were Jonas Mattisseck with 19 and Louis Olinde with 17 points.

Alba won his last home game in the points round of the basketball Bundesliga and thus also took first place in the table. The defending champion defeated the Gießen 46ers, who had already been relegated, in a catch-up game on Wednesday with 109:80 (61:43).

Coach Israel Gonzalez gave national player Maodo Lo a break, and youngster Malte Delow was out ill. Alba struggled a bit in the first few minutes, because Gießen was in rhythm right away and hit his throws. After being 5-0 down, Alba got into the game better and took the lead for the first time after just under three and a half minutes.

The first quarter became almost a distance throwing contest. Alba stayed ahead, but also made a few mistakes. In the last few minutes before the break, however, the Berliners increased the intensity and were able to pull away with a 16-0 run.

Even after the change of sides, Alba determined the game. In the third quarter, the hosts pulled away to 26 points (79:53). After that, they downshifted a few gears and spared some regular employees. But the Berliners had everything under control until the end.
