The German basketball players are in the semi-finals of the home European Championship thanks to a tremendous performance against top favorite Greece!
Captain Dennis Schröder’s team beat the team of NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo in the quarter-finals in Berlin on Tuesday evening with 107:96 (57:61) and is fighting for a medal for the first time in 17 years. In 2005, Germany won silver with Dirk Nowitzki in Serbia.
The best pitcher in the German team was Dennis Schröder with 26 points. In front of 14,073 spectators, NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo towered over the Greeks with 31 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. The Milwaukee Bucks star flew off the field five minutes before the end of the game after two unsportsmanlike fouls.
In the fight for the final, the team of national coach Gordon Herbert meets Spain on Friday. The three-time European champion had previously beaten Finland 100:90. The final will take place on Sunday evening.
