100,000 people registered for the peace demo on Sunday in Berlin – the route and closures

In Berlin and other major German cities, numerous people want to protest again on Sunday (12 noon) against Russia’s war in Ukraine.

The organizers’ alliance of trade unions, churches, environmental protection initiatives and peace groups registered 100,000 participants in Berlin alone. The police spoke of a realistic magnitude.

The motto is: “Stop the war. Peace and solidarity for the people of Ukraine”. The demonstration leads from Alexanderplatz in Berlin to Straße des 17. Juni. Protests are also planned in Hamburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Leipzig.

Due to the size of the event, according to the traffic information center, extensive road closures are to be expected throughout the day.

Demo participants should travel by public transport and note that the BVG assumes that underground stations or entrances to underground stations in the demonstration’s catchment area will have to be temporarily closed for safety reasons. Tram and bus services will also be temporarily interrupted or shortened.

Those who don’t want to go to the demo should drive around the city center as far as possible, eg via the A100D city motorway.

Most recently, on February 27, three days after the start of the war, more than a hundred thousand people demonstrated in Berlin.
