On 8 February, Minister De Jonge for Housing and Spatial Planning announced that Amsterdam will receive financial support to realize approximately 1,000 flexible homes. The homes will be divided into four projects and the first will be delivered this year. The contribution of a total of 12 million euros comes from the Flexible and Transformation Homes Incentive Scheme.

42 municipalities and a partnership receive financial support

The government made € 100 million available to accelerate the realization of flex and transformation homes for people who urgently need housing. A total of 42 municipalities and a municipal partnership received a contribution from the Flexible and Transformation Homes Stimulation Scheme. The entire available budget has now been paid out.

The 100 million euros from the scheme will be used to build around 8,359 flexible homes for more than 15,000 residents. The total investment of municipalities, corporations and housing market parties to realize these flexible homes amounts to approximately €1 billion. The first homes will be delivered in 2023.

Award procedure

The projects submitted by municipalities were assessed by the Temporary Housing Acceleration Taskforce against the conditions of the Incentive Scheme. The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations decides whether the requested amount will be granted.

Acceleration temporary housing

The objectives from the Residential Building program have been accelerated and increased to the realization of a total of 37,500 flexible homes in the period 2022-2024. This is to reduce the long waiting lists for social housing. But also to achieve a flexible shell in the changing demand for affordable homes. In addition to the Flexible and Transformation Homes Incentive Scheme, the government is working on additional incentives to realize flexible and transformation homes, such as a financial and physical relocation guarantee. The Housing Attention Groups scheme and the Housing Building Impulse will also follow later this year.

Government Gazette publication

The decision has been published in the Government Gazette of February 8, 2023.
