“10 percent of Switzerland’s glacier volume has now disappeared”: new report exposes impact of two disaster years

One extreme year follows another in the Swiss Alps. And that is not good news for the glaciers, according to the report from the Swiss Academy of Sciences. By 2022, the glaciers will have lost as much as 6 percent of their volume. Another 4 percent in 2023, the second largest decrease since measurements began. This means that 10 percent of the total ice volume has now disappeared.
