MChristmas is over a month away, but TV and platforms have already inaugurated their catalog dedicated to the holidays. It is the sequel to the lucky one 10 days without mom.
10 days with Santa Clausthe plot of the movie
Carlo Rovelli (Fabio De Luigi) no longer has a job and takes care of the house and three children. What seemed like an optimal choice on the ending of the previous film turns out to be unsatisfactory. He did it to give space to his wife Giulia (Valentina Lodovini) and allow her to dedicate herself to her career.
However, looking after Camilla (Angelica Elli), Tito (Matteo Castellucci) and Bianca (Bianca Usai) is no longer enough for him. Furthermore, Camilla and Tito are now teenagers, with all the consequences that this entails. That is, Camilla is a fervent environmentalist; Tito, on the other hand, is a far-right sympathizer. To add a lot of stress, household chores, conversations with teachers, school plays, shopping and everything that turns a parent into a tightrope walker.
Christmas is approaching and Carlo is busy shopping, from the tree to the gifts. And despite the frenzy, she always manages to do everything. Even to decorate the house. A few days before the big day, Giulia receives a promotion that promises to be attractive. The only limit is the new workplace: Sweden. And before accepting he must meet the leaders. The evening in which Giulia tells him the news, Carlo blurts out. “I am fed up”he says, «Sick, sick, sick of cooking, washing, ironing. To take care of your needs without ever having anything in return».
The Rovelli family’s meeting with Santa Claus
His wife points out that he did for a year what she did for thirteen without ever complaining. The confrontation leads to a profound clash, at the end of which Carlo leaves home. The following morning he returns to the camper which he promised to sell and which, instead, he kept in storage. And he makes a proposal: they will all go to Stockholm together.
Giulia’s business trip thus turns into a family adventure. All five leave for Northern Europe and the journey continues more or less peacefully, at least until shortly after the border with Austria. Here in the middle of a blizzard, they run over a man.
After the initial scare, they realize that he is still alive and breathe a sigh of relief. They note, however, that He’s a bit of a special character. He wears a red and white suit complete with hat and eyeglasses and is convinced he is Santa Claus (Diego Abatantuono). Despite their hesitation, they eventually decide to give him a lift to Stockholm and the real adventure begins.
10 days with Santa Claus or with an impostor?
Is Santa Claus really Santa Claus or not? Certainly, whenever he’s around something strange happens. It often disappears and reappears shortly after. She repeats the same phrases and he seems to suffer from memory problems, but then surprises everyone with a new magic.
The journey aboard the camperin small shared spaces, puts the relationship between Carlo and Giulia to the test, who never miss an opportunity to argue. Initially the presence of Santa Claus creates some confusion within the family, but little by little it proves to be a panacea for Carlo and Giulia. With his wisdom and advice, he provides the right key to resolving conflicts and looking at everything from another point of view.
There is a question, then, that accompanies it 10 days with Santa Claus from start to finish: What if the stranger turns out to be an impostor? In reality, nothing would change, because in the long run the idea of leaving all together – and in the company of a stranger – turns out to be the best Christmas present they could have ever received.
