“1 year of rain in barely 2 days”: climate disaster unfolds in Greece due to storm Daniel

Last weekend Spain was hit by a DANA with precipitation amounts of up to 200 mm, and now it’s Greece’s turn. A similar weather phenomenon is currently causing unstable weather there with heavy thunderstorms. Some weather models predict as much rain in 48 hours as in 1 year, some even more. In Zagora, 516 mm fell in the first hours. The weather service has declared code red for large parts of Greece for both rain and thunderstorms. Some scientists warn of a climate catastrophe.
