1. FC Nürnberg offers Köpke and Lohkemper at other clubs

Duo without perspective

After the professional contract for youngster Jermain Nischalke (19), 1. FC Nuremberg has an oversupply of strikers in the squad. Coach Markus Weinzierl has seven regular “nines” available for the two positions in the double leadership. As the “picture“ reported, the Franconians are expected to leave the front of the team. Accordingly, Pascal Köpke (27) and Felix Lohkemper (27) no longer have a future with the “Club” and are said to have been offered to other clubs.

Köpke returned to his training club from Hertha BSC in 2020 for 800,000 euros, but he is struggling with bad luck with injuries. After suffering a cruciate ligament rupture in his first season, he also missed half of the first half of the current season due to knee surgery. Since his move, Köpke has played 25 games (5 goals/2 assists), only one of them this season, making him the player with the fewest minutes played at FCN. In the most recent market value update of the 2nd Bundesliga, it went down again when it was devalued by 150,000 euros to 550,000 euros. While Köpke is mostly out of action, Lohkemper does not get beyond the joker role. The offensive player, who moved from 1. FC Magdeburg to Nuremberg on a free transfer in 2019, has played ten games (no goals involved) with 381 minutes in the current season.

When asked about the situation in attack, Weinzierl said to “Bild”: “We work with the strikers who are there and everyone has the chance to show themselves in the test games.” Only then would decisions be made.
