Not placed under Fiél
Mats Møller Dæhli has been at home in German football for nine years now, interrupted only by a one-year interlude at KRC Genk. The 28-year-old offensive player spent the last three years at 1. FC Nürnberg and still has a contract with the club until June 30, 2025. This winter, however, it is already becoming clear that he will be leaving home in Norway.
According to the local newspaper, “Romsdals BudstikkeFormer club Molde FK is working on a return campaign for Møller Dæhli. Sports director Øystein Neerland confirmed to the paper (quoted via “Verden’s walk“) that the right-footer was last in the small Norwegian town: “It is true that he had a short and pleasant visit. We’ll see what comes of it.” The 59-year-old neither wanted to confirm nor deny that these were transfer negotiations.

Møller Dæhli has had a difficult time under coach Cristian Fiél this season and was only allowed to start four times (one assist) after groin problems at the start of the season. In the most recent market value update, it fell from 1 million euros to 900,000 euros, but a year and a half before the end of the contract, Nuremberg could still receive a decent transfer fee. After the worst season since 2016 with fifth place, Molde would like to attack again and strengthen the squad.

For the 36-time national player, it would be a return to his old place of work. In 2014 he left the club for Cardiff City before moving to Germany a year later. Møller Dæhli landed in Nuremberg in January 2021 via SC Freiburg and FC St. Pauli. There he had four goals and 16 assists in 92 games.
