Captain at the Argentine champions
Javier Pinola has one more season to go after his 20-year professional career. The centre-back, who celebrates his 39th birthday in February, has extended his expired contract with Argentinian giants CA River Plate until December 31, 2022.
Pinola has been playing at home again since 2015, having previously worn the jersey for 1. FC Nürnberg for a total of ten years. With 187 competitive appearances, he ranks seventh in the record player ranking of the “Clubberer”.
In 2017, his path led him to River Plate, with whom he won the championship last year and two previous cups, as well as the Copa Libertadores and Recopa Sudamericana. In the past season, due to a broken forearm, the left foot only played eight competitive games in which he captained the club.
