Third best scorer in regional league
The seventh new signing for 1. FC Magdeburg is fixed. The third division champions announced the signing of Léo Scienza from FC Schalke 04 II on Thursday. The Saxony-Anhalt company did not provide any information about the term of the contract. The 23-year-old winger, who is moving on a free transfer, scored 11 goals and 13 assists in 36 games in the Regionalliga West last season, making him the third-best scorer.
“Leo belongs to the category of players who want to take the next step with us. We have a lot of confidence in him and are convinced that he will assert himself in the 2nd Bundesliga. We have had very good experiences with Luca Schuler and Jason Ceka, who also come from the Knappenschmiede,” said sports director Otmar Schork about Scienza, who was born in Brazil and also has a Luxembourg passport.
Coach Christian Titz added: “With Leo we have been able to sign a very fast, tricky offensive player who had a good quota at FC Schalke 04 II and who can be used very variably.” For Scienza, 1. FC Magdeburg is his fourth stop in the men’s division in the third country.
We welcome Leonardo #Scienza with us. The 23-year-old last played for FC Schalke 04 II in the @knappenschmiede.
Welcome to the FCM, Leo!
