Personnel concerns in attack

The news first appeared on January 14th at 1:02 p.m. and was updated with Selke’s injury.
1. FC Köln will have to do without center forwards Davie Selke and Luca Waldschmidt for the time being. As the relegation-threatened “Effzeh” announced on Sunday, both professionals will be absent for several weeks. Selke, the Billy Goats’ top scorer with five goals, underwent an MRI scan due to pain in his left foot, which apparently did not produce any positive results. However, the club did not provide an exact diagnosis.
Waldschmidt suffered a fractured fibula. That’s why he missed the game against 1. FC Heidenheim (1-1) after he was injured in the final training session on Friday. The 27-year-old had previously been unable to play in one game due to illness.
This means that the staffing level in the attack at FC, which is not allowed to sign any players for two periods due to a transfer ban, is becoming even thinner. In addition to Selke and Wolfsburg loanee Waldschmidt, Mark Uth and Sargis Adamyan are currently not available to new coach Timo Schultz.
