The Greek national player Dimitris Limnios is leaving the Bundesliga soccer club 1. FC Köln after a good three years. The 25-year-old is moving back to his home country and will play for Panathinaikos Athens in the future. Effzeh officially announced this on Friday.
Limnios came to the Rhine in September 2020 for 3.3 million euros and played a total of 15 times for Cologne. In the 2021/22 season he played on loan at Twente Enschede in the Netherlands (36 appearances, eight goals, two assists).
“Dimi’s situation was no longer satisfactory recently because he didn’t have enough playing time. At the same time, the competitive situation in our squad is such that we couldn’t make it possible for him,” explained Thomas Kessler, head of the licensed football department in Cologne.
The first German Bundesliga champion (1964) is in 17th place with just ten points after 16 games and is fighting to stay in the upper house.
