Contract extended at FC
Homegrown Marvin Obuz is leaving 1. FC Köln again on loan. After the 21-year-old left winger played for Holstein Kiel last season, he is now drawn to third division club Rot-Weiss Essen, where he will spend the coming season. The “Effzeh” also announced that the contract of the native of Cologne was extended until 2025.
“Marvin’s talent is undisputed. Even if he didn’t get the seasons he had hoped for last year, the new environment and the experience he gained there have done him a lot of good, especially with regard to his personality development. In order to establish himself in professional football, Marvin now has to gain even more stability and assertiveness. We discussed that with him and decided together that another loan made sense. In Rot-Weiss Essen we see a suitable loan club for Marvin for several reasons,” said managing director Christian Keller.
Obuz, who played eleven times for Kiel, said: “FC showed me a clear and honest perspective. That’s why it was clear to me that I would let myself be loaned out again to increase my chances of playing time. My goal is to play as much as possible for Rot-Weiss Essen and to establish myself as a regular in the men’s division this season.”
