1. FC Köln confirms farewell to Andersson – among the top 10 most expensive newcomers

After knee surgery without deployment 2022/23

Striker Sebastian Andersson is leaving 1. FC Köln after his contract expires in the summer. “Dear Seb, with your brace in Kiel you played a big part in staying up in the league in 2021,” wrote “Effzeh” on Wednesday evening on “Twitter”. “Ten points in 47 games, including a goal against Gladbach. We like to remember that! Good luck on your further way. Cheer up, Seb!”

The 31-year-old Andersson moved from 1. FC Union Berlin to Cologne in 2020, his transfer fee of 6.5 million euros is one of the ten highest in FC club history. While the Swede played regularly in the first two years, he did not play for the Cologne pros last season due to knee surgery. In the meantime there had even been speculation about a career break.
