1. FC Kaiserslautern wins a point at Holstein Kiel

There was no winner in an entertaining game: Kaiserslautern and Holstein Kiel drew 1-1. At the end of the encounter Kaiserslautern had to tremble for the point win.

Holstein Kiel went into the first home game of the season with a more offensive orientation. The storks made the game, 1. FC Kaiserslautern initially concentrated on the defensive. Nevertheless, the Lauterers took the lead: Ex-Kieler Daniel Hanslik scored in the 33rd minute to give the Red Devils the lead. The Palatinate were able to take this lead safely into halftime.

Kiel under a lot of pressure after the break

Holstein Kiel started the encounter better after the break. Fabian Reese made it 1-1 in the 51st minute. The goal spurred Kiel on, again Fabian Reese turned the encounter just 6 minutes after the equalizer with a header from about seven meters away.

Kaiserslautern with energy performance

But the climber answered immediately. Again just a few minutes after going behind, Terence Boyd equalized after a counterattack by Lauterer (62nd minute). The Kiel protested because of a supposed handball in the emergence of the counterattack. But the protests were unsuccessful. The hit counted.

Final phase: Kiel pushed, Kaiserslautern fought

After this goal, the Kielers pushed for the renewed lead. But even the comeback of the 35-year-old Fin Bartels three and a half months after his broken collarbone was not successful. After preliminary work by Bartels, Fiete Arp missed the best chance to make it 3:2 (84th).

After the opening win against Hannover, Kaiserslautern remains undefeated even after two matchdays in the new second division season. Kiel starts the season with two draws.
