1. FC Kaiserslautern refrains from protesting against Fortuna Düsseldorf’s victory

Second division football team 1. FC Kaiserslautern refrains from protesting against the score after the bottle was thrown at striker Ragnar Ache in the away game at Fortuna Düsseldorf (3:4).

The club announced this on Monday evening, but the FCK was “in exchange with Fortuna Düsseldorf and the responsible security authorities to investigate the perpetrators.”

According to their own statements, those responsible at the club examined the entire matter in detail and came to the conclusion that referee Benjamin Brand “acted in accordance with the DFB’s legal and procedural rules”.

While celebrating after Lautern’s interim 3-0 lead, Ache was hit in the head by a plastic bottle. The game was interrupted for several minutes and an abandonment was apparently imminent. Brand whistled to restart the game, but Fortuna turned the game around.

Regardless of the outcome, Lautern condemned the action and said an investigation had already been initiated. The Red Devils will “decisively investigate this and hope that the individual perpetrator will be identified and held accountable for his actions,” FCK managing director Thomas Hengen was quoted as saying.
