1. FC Köln has announced its line-up for the float at the Rose Monday parade. In addition to trainer Timo Schultz, a birthday child is also traveling.
There is hardly a greater honor for Cologne residents than to ride on one of this year’s 77 floats in the Rose Monday procession and follow the hustle and bustle from this special perspective. For some professionals and employees of 1. FC Köln, this dream will become reality again this year.
Because the billy goats will once again be part of the 7.5 kilometer long train with their own car. The FC is entering its tenth year as a supporting member of the Cologne Carnival Festival Committee. While the club celebrated its 75th anniversary last year, this year’s motto, in keeping with the difficult sporting situation, is: “Always do – it’s all right.”
These FC professionals are there
One day after the important game at TSG Hoffenheim, four FC professionals will be seen on the car. This year, Eric Martel, Davie Selke, Linton Maina and Jeff Chabot can provide the crowd with Kamelle and Strüßje. The trip will even be a birthday present for Chabot: the central defender celebrates his 26th birthday on Monday.
“Monday is also part of it,” said Davie Selke, who is currently injured, on Tuesday evening. After the first “culture shock”, the native Swabian has now gotten used to the carnival in Cologne. With the hoped-for victory in Hoffenheim on Sunday, celebrating should be easier.
Schultz celebrates the first Cologne carnival
Timo Schultz also hopes for that. The FC coach will also be on the float. The East Frisian made his first real acquaintance with the Cologne Carnival at the FC meeting on Tuesday in the Maritim Hotel. Now the 46-year-old will also experience the Rose Monday procession up close as Steffen Baumgart’s successor.
Of the female professionals, Anna Gerhardt, Laura Vogt and trainer Daniel Weber are allowed to take part. The women face the champions and current league leaders FC Bayern Munich two days earlier in the Bundesliga.
Also on the car on Monday are: Vice President Eckhard Sauren, Managing Director Philipp Türoff, young talent scout Martin Bülles and U15 coach and ex-FC professional Carsten Cullmann.
