The 36th Pramenrace will start at 12.00 in Aalsmeer. 160 pramen, boats with a flat bottom, sail a route on the Westeinderplassen and the Ringvaart of Haarlemmermeer. The theme is cartoons. The first Pramen race was held in 1985 and actually started as a joke between some friends. It became more popular and more and more teams joined. Most teams do not go for the speed prize, building a party is much more important to them.
