?LIVE: Activists occupy part of Schiphol, attach themselves to aircraft

A large group of climate activists from Greenpeace and Extinction Rebellion have just climbed over a fence at Schiphol-East and are now occupying the platform where private jets are parked, among other things. The police and Marechaussee are present en masse. NH Nieuws will be there live.

The activists demand a ban on private flights, which they say are polluting. Also at Schiphol Plaza there is protested against aviationbut permission has been given for that action from the municipality.

Action announced

The action was already in the air. Greenpeace previously announced that it had prepared a ‘disruptive action’. Environmental organizations and residents’ groups around Schiphol want the number of flights at Schiphol to be reduced by at least half.

Private jet flights are especially a thorn in the side of Greenpeace. In October, the environmental club already called for a ban. Protesters are now blocking the route the jets normally taxi between the platform and the runway.
